So, you want to learn to play the ukulele? Great! The best beginner ukulele is much more than a party toy and by learning to play it properly, you will get a lot more enjoyment out of it. As you probably already know, the best way to learn is by taking lessons from a professional instructor, but this is the age of the internet and for many, money is tight and lessons are expensive.
Though the internet is a great resource for learning many things it can be daunting to try to find what you need. That’s what this article is for. There is only so much you can learn from text and drawings, so here I’ve gathered a few videos to help you learn to play the ukulele like Jake Shimabukuro. (If you don’t know who he is, you’ll find one of his videos at the end to give you a bit of inspiration.)
Here is a quick video that teaches you one of the basic strumming rhythms that is used when playing the ukulele. This is one of the very first steps to learning to play.

Strumming is the easiest way to learn to play basic songs on the ukulele and here is the proof. This video is a very quick lesson in how to play the ukulele with just a few simple chords. While his singing may not be the best, he does a great job at instructing.
